If you are like most people, you doubtless have a camera full of photos that you have taken of things in nature that you know you are attracted to, but aren’t sure of the next step to turn them into your own designs for rug-hooking. Using these photos as your inspiration, we will go through the entire design process: from finding and editing a composition, getting your design on backing, basic rules of art, colour planning, values, shading and shadowing.

Hooking with yarn allows you to achieve a surprising amount of detail in a small space! This workshop will provide you with all of the information that you need to work with yarn, including how to choose the best yarns for hooking and for achieving texture. We will also discuss a number of ideas for finishing your pieces.

The inspiration that exists in nature, even in the smallest of details, is boundless. By learning to look at your surroundings in a different way, this class will leave you feeling inspired, refreshed and ready to start designing your own rugs!

Previous rug-hooking experience is required for this class, however you do not need to have hooked with yarn before.
