Saturday, Sept. 7, 9-12 and repeated Saturday Sept. 7, 1-4 both times in the Learning Centre at the Museum
Get up close and personal by looking and touching the breadth of the textiles of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guerrero Mexico. A illustrated show of the range of expertise of the talented weavers and embroiderers of the major centres for textile arts in México. See where they work and what they produce using traditional techniques and materials; and what they can produce with non-traditional yarns now available the the highly skilled workers.
To set the mood for next year’s exhibition of Mexican Textiles at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum, join us for a visual and tactile presentation of some of the techniques used in the Southern Mexican States of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guerrero. See first-hand and close up what the craftspeople of this region can achieve with simple spinning and weaving tools, and local materials that have been used for over 3000 years.
William Hodge and Robert Wylie of Armure Studios will be presenting.
Workshop Location: Presidents Office at the Museum
Maximum Participants: 40
Fee Per Student: $15 ($20 at the door)
