Edda Brown created Mrs. Brown’s Sewing Studio in 2004 as a home-based custom dressmaking service. With 35 years of sewing experience behind her, she quickly impressed new clients with her design and stitching talents. Edda worked on all types of projects from simple duvet covers to intricate wedding gowns. She also offered alteration services and over the next ten years became known for her expertise in altering bridal and prom gowns.
Edda is now stepping back from the custom dressmaking and alterations business to focus on more creative pursuits. She is currently working on her own custom-designed clothing line which will be offered under the “Edda Maria” label.
Edda is now selling her designs on Etsy.com. Her shop name is “NonaMariasNursery“. You will also find her children’s clothing and accessories as well as doll clothes in the shop.
Edda uses colourful and unique fabrics to create her designs, while keeping up with current trends.
She will also continue to be a vendor in the Ottawa area at the annual Fibrefest Market in Almonte, Ontario the second week of September.
Edda is also a sewing instructor at three Ottawa area community centres. Information on the courses offered can be found on the City of Ottawa website.
